Walk or Cycle

There's no shortage of beautiful walks and bike rides on our doorstep, with a climb up the Tor an absolute must for the panoramic view. We've spent many afternoons exploring the area on foot or wheels. We provide our handpicked guide of the best walks and cycle routes in our Welcome Book.

Activities

For the adventurous visitor, take to the water on The Duchess of Cocklemore, Langport. Wall Eden Adventure Activities offers everything from archery, axe throwing and air rifle shooting to fishing.

Breathtaking beaches

Day trips from Tall Trees Glamping to the Dorset coast offer dramatic scenery and contrast. West Bay, famous as the backdrop to the TV series Broadchurch is well worth a visit. Whilst West Bexington is a mackerel fishing haven and Durdle Door is an iconic symbol of the Jurassic Coast.

Towns and Villages

With the cathedral city of Wells (the smallest in England) and fascinating market town of Glastonbury a short drive away there's plenty to discover. What's more, there's no shortage of cosy West Country pubs where you can relax with a  pint of the finest Somerset cider after all that culture!

Animals & Wildlife

Our lodges are surrounded by working farmland. Visit Shapwick Heath for bird spotting, otters and Britain's largest dragonfly. Farm tours are available at Chew Valley Country Farm and Ferne Animal Sanctuary. If you're after something a bit more exotic, Longleat Safari Park is a forty minute drive away. The Avalon Marshes and Westhay Moor offer unrivalled bird watching.

Spa days

To really unwind after a long walk, head to Charlton House and book in for a premium treatment in a decadent spa in a stunning country house. Alternatively, we have a relationship with a local hair dresser and beauty salon so if you fancy treating yourself whilst you are here then let us know.
